Our first Member Spotlight of 2018 and first on the new website is Cat!! We love Cat because she works incredibly hard each and every day, shows up with a kick ass attitude, is positive, friendly, and willing to try anything!  Add to that her main goal is that she wants to be strong! We just can’t understand when people complain that CrossFit will make them “too bulky.” When I hear that, I don’t even know what it means. Are you saying you don’t want any muscles? Is the skeleton look more for you? Cat has a refreshing point of view because she WANTS muscles and has a goal of being strong! And she is! Cat is always at Barbell Club….always. Working on her cleans, snatches, jerks, etc. She had never done these lifts before CrossFit but now one of her main goals is becoming more proficient with the barbell. Cat is always asking questions and eager to improve in any way….and is incredibly coachable. She’s like a sponge, soaking up all she can.  Name: Catherine (Cat) Colon

Where are you originally from? 100% Puerto Rican born in Brooklyn & raised in the Bronx.

What high school and/or college did you attend? John F Kennedy High School & Lehman College

What do you do for work? I am the Office Manager for Westchester Magazine and Hudson Valley Magazine.

When and why did you start CrossFit: I started CF on April 3, 2017. I joined because I hit 40 and wanted to bring my sexy back and to live a long healthy life.

Favorite and Least Favorite Lift?: I actually like them all. I like to lift and want to get big. The one I have the most difficult time with is the snatch/hang snatch.

What was your first workout, and what did you think after finishing? My first workout was 3 rounds – 10 T2B (modified w/ring rows), 10 DB power snatch & 10 box jump. After finishing I was like WOW I made it, I am alive, this is intense but I love it can’t wait for what’s next.

Greatest CrossFit Achievement so far: There are many, but my first one was running 200 meters. I smoked from the age of 15 to 37 years old (22 years) and I have asthma and thought I would never run and when the day came I was super proud of myself.

CrossFit Goal for 2018: To perfect my form, lift in the hundreds and gain muscle mass.

One interesting thing about yourself not related to CrossFit: I am super shy.

If I’m not at the box, you can probably find me….: at home spending time with my 90-pound baby lab shepherd Bam-Bam or hanging with my girls.
