WOW! Well, the CrossFit Open starts next week!!!! CrossFit has changed its competition season, so moving forward, the Open will be in the fall. Previously, the Open has always been in February and March. This year, the first workout will be announced NEXT WEEK on Thursday, Oct. 10.
As you may have heard, we are doing a new format for our in-house competition that we’ve done for the past few years. This year, we are doing BATTLE OF THE SEXES and pitting the men vs. the women! Last winter, we did a “Masters vs. Millennials” competition with the Masters taking home the title. Who will win this year??? Join up and we will find out!!!
The Open will still be five weeks of competition, with one workout (RX and scaled) announced each week. We LOVE doing big throwdowns with as many people and as much energy as possible. This time around we will host “Friday Night Lights” each week. We will also host an Open Announcement viewing every Thursday night, with some of you throwing down as soon as we see the workout! During the day Friday our 5am, 6am, 9:30am, and noon classes will all complete the open WOD! Evening classes are all canceled for the 5 weeks to allow for Friday night lights. Doors will Open at 4 for warmups, and we’ll start heats around 5pm. We will run heats until everyone has finished, and wrap up with drinks and food!
Points are up for grabs for best RX and Scaled scores (both in the under 35, 35-49, and over 50 age categories). Spirit points, best photo, MVP, and other fun categories will earn your team points!
We have posted a whiteboard at the gym. We have a bunch of names on there but we KNOW we can get more. Bottom line…..just do it! We always, always see people join super late. You know you’re just going to end up doing it so post your name to the board at the gym. It’s going to be fun and the more people who join, the better.
