Kym from the Gym. Kym the Cat. We lost a member of the 203 Family today, Kym. Some of our OG’s might remember her. She started coming around the gym in the summer of 2012. She was a stray, and started coming into the gym through the open garage door every day and take a nap on the couch. Day after day she would show up. Soon, we set her up with food and water and a litter box and she became the gym cat. She helped rid us of some pesky mice we once had, and definitely earned her keep! She would wander out during the day and then come back at night and 203 became her new home. None of the neighbors knew whose cat it was, so she became ours.

Then one day, she showed up with a gigantic cut on her leg. She was attacked by something or somehow injured herself. I brought her to the vet and they stitched her up and told us to make sure she stayed inside and didn’t move around much for a while. Since the gym doors were always open, we decided to take her home. She healed, and by then our boys fell in love with her and she was no longer the gym cat, she was our house cat.

I’ve never had a cat before. I hear most of them are, to be blunt, kind of a dick and standoff-ish. Kym was cool though. Not only was she a killer (she brought me many live or dead animals as gifts through the years) but she would roll over and show her belly because she wanted it rubbed, just like a dog would. She would hang by herself most of the time, but often come out and just lay on your lap looking to get pet.

She still tried to get outside often, but with so many foxes and animals in the woods behind our house, she became an overweight, lazy house cat. We had her for about 8 years or so.

We have no idea where she came from, but she became ours, and I’m glad she chose our gym for her naps. J
