It’s going to look a little different this year, but the 2021 CrossFit Open is happening! It will start this year on March 11 and instead of a 5-week event, it will be a more manageable three weeks. It’s been a tough year, but we always look forward to the Open to come together as a community and hit these workouts together.
We would like to do something a little special this year. We won’t be splitting into teams or anything like that, we will be ONE team together. We will charge $15 to do the Open with us, with the money going toward something our top performers choose after the three weeks. “Top performer” means anything from helping to judge your fellow athletes, bringing food or drinks to celebrate, assisting with set up or clean up, or giving a shout out to someone on social media. Our top performers could choose to spend the money on a small get together with our open participants, buy a piece of equipment with it, donate it to a cause, or anything at all. You can also officially sign up online with CrossFit, which is a $20 registration fee. The website is games.crossfit.com.
For our newer members, the CrossFit Open is an annual world-wide event organized by CrossFit. We can do it all right here at the gym. CrossFit will release three workouts, on Thursday, March 11, 18 and 25th and anyone in the world can do them. Keep in mind, THIS IS FOR EVERYONE! CrossFit will release FOUR different types of workouts; RX, scaled, and two new categories, “foundations” and no equipment at-home workouts. You don’t need to be aiming for the CrossFit Games to join us (I’m certainly not). This event is more for camaraderie and coming together as a gym, and it feels cool that everyone around the world is doing the same workout.
The new “foundations” division is perfect for newer members or athletes who typically do the level 1 option for their workouts.
Like recent years, the workouts will be released on Thursday evenings at 8 pm and we will have until the following Monday at 8 pm to do them. We will offer multiple times to get the workouts done during those four days, with our main event taking place twice on Saturdays and once on Friday night.
