Are classes split up by age?
CF Kids classes are organized and programmed by age group, with classes for teens and younger children frequently scheduled during school and summer vacation time. Contact us to find out when the next session starts!
Who teaches CrossFit Kids classes? Do they have special training?
Classes are taught by Coaches Melissa and Monica, who hold CrossFit Kids coaching certifications. CrossFit 203 co-owner Melissa is a practicing Orthopedic Physical Therapist, and Monica works in a school setting as an Occupational Therapist - and has previous experience both as children’s gymnastics coach. Coach Lisa, who assists with our Teens class, has great familiarity with her demographic as a high school biology teacher.
How is CrossFit Kids different than CrossFit? Are things just scaled?
CrossFit Kids workouts are scalable for any participant at any level, and takes into account developmental needs in terms of neurological, cognitive and motor skills. Learn more at the official CrossFit Kids site.
CrossFit Kids is a strength and conditioning program that is specifically designed for kids and teenagers and helps them develop a lifelong love of fitness. In a group setting, children and teens participate in fun and engaging workouts that deliver measurable results.
The functional movements involve exercises that are fundamental to all things that kids need to do when they play – pull, push, run, throw, climb, lift and jump. Participants will become well-rounded athletes who will be better at any and every sport that they play because CrossFit Kids doesn’t coach them to be good at just one thing.
All of the movements are taught safely and effectively under the close supervision of thoroughly trained CrossFit Kids coaches.
And no two workouts are the same, so kids and teens never get bored and the novelty of each workout keeps them excited about participating.
