Is CrossFit safe?
With proper coaching, conditioning and the right attitude CrossFit is 100% safe. At CF203, we ensure that all members take part in our foundations classes to ensure they learn proper techniques. That oversight continues through every single class - our coaches observe and provide on-the-spot feedback to all athletes, no matter how much experience they have. And every class starts with a group warm-up so everyone is prepared what that day’s WOD.
Is CrossFit for me?
YES! In any given class, you will regularly see every age group and athletic background represented… from teenagers who play sports, to grandparents with no athletic background. Everybody pushes and encourages each other! Our coaches will “scale” or modify any workout to match your experience and skill level.
What's a typical class like?
Every class starts with a group warmup - bit of cardio, stretching and PVC work to review proper technique. After the warmup, we’ll review that WOD - workout of the day - and cover options for scaling based upon abilities and injuries.
Often there will be a “skill” portion of the WOD that allows participants to focus on a particular lift or movement, whether it’s working toward a PR (personal record) for a specific lift or tackling a new gymnastic skill like pull-ups, handstand pushups, jumprope double-unders or more.
Then it’s time to get down to work! WODs are built around number of rounds or rounds for time, incorporating cardio, lifting and gymnastic movements - sometimes a bit of everything - depending upon the day. And we’ll close the case with group cool down and stretching.
